There has never been a challenge I'm more committed to than THRIVING despite my cancer diagnosis. My rare form of lymphoma means this is a challenge that I will likely fight over and over again throughout my long and happy life. There has never been a challenge I'm more committed to than THRIVING despite my cancer diagnosis. My rare form of lymphoma means this is a challenge that I will likely fight over and over again throughout my long and happy life. I will do that with the support of my family and friends (that means YOU!) and with my bad-ass team of doctors, nurses, and researchers.
Founding this non-profit is not just about helping some well-meaning cause (although it is). It's about helping me. It's personal.
In 2019 amidst my lymphoma relapse, the Pelotonia cycling fundraiser was gearing up in Columbus, Ohio. The thought of asking my body which I felt had betrayed me to do this - the training, the asking for money, the ride itself - it was all daunting. But something about being on my bike brought me back to my youth when I felt invincible and so very alive. I wanted to feel that again so I went for it.
I had no idea how deep the experience would hit me. It's the people riding next to you, it's the people standing at the checkpoints and finish lines, the volunteers at the events - we are all doing it, we are surviving not just the disease but the curve ball it puts into your whole life, your every thought, how it effects your family members and friends. That's why I'm here. To be a part of that deep connection across the country, to fundraise for cancer support organizations and researchers. And to inspire.
