THE ONLY CONSTANT IS CHANGE. STAY TUNED FOR REGULAR UPDATES
The mission of Here Now Fund is to fundraise for charity cancer bike rides across the country raising awareness of big and small cancer canters and organizations, creating hope among patients and survivors, and inspiring an active approach to healthy healing regardless of diagnosis.
Duane Winchester was diagnosed with an incurable form of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (Mantle Cell) in March of 2018 (you can read about our journey on our Caring Bridge Journal here:
That journal ends before our story does as he relapsed in February of 2019. Since then he has been on a clinical trial combo of oral drugs and has remained cancer free!
In the Summer of 2019 Duane joined Pelotonia and rode 35 miles while raising more than $5,000 for The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - The James. To say it changed him would be an understatement. He gained so much from the training, the riding, the Pelotonia community, the fundraising… all of it. So much so that he wants to support other cancer charity rides across the country, connect with other riders, and continue to raise awareness for the cause.
Funds are raised through various channels:
· When an active ride is open for fundraising, supporters can donate directly to the event through a rider profile page or donate directly to HNF where we apply the funds to the ride.
· Funds are raised through art auctions and art/merchandise sales in person and online (donated art, Woodbird by Winchester pieces, and HNF Merch).
· Attend “friend-raising parties” where admission, donations, and merchandise purchases go to the Fund.
* HNF is currently working with a nonprofit attorney to apply for 501c3 status and further define the process in which funds are raised and distributed.
